If you have an older home, chances are your kitchen is not as big as you wish it could be. Depending on the structure of your house, a total makeover may not be possible. So, then what can you do to make your small galley kitchen look and feel as if it were a whole lot larger?
Basically, your final kitchen plan must be in harmony with the over-all concept or theme of the interior decor of your house. Your kitchen furniture and fixtures should blend with your dining and living room furniture. The wallpaper design or paint color, kitchen cabinets, countertops, backsplash, sink and faucet, handles and pulls, flooring, lighting fixtures, mats, ovens, refrigerators, pots and pans, china, stools, accents and other kitchen accessories should all come together as a member component of the kitchen team and blend as one. In effect, every item should be in its proper place.
Many people settle for the color white as a safe option. However, you need to be a little bit more imaginative and adventurous if you want to create a feeling of warmth and liveliness within your cooking area. In fact, strong colors would be the perfect complement for most of the modern kitchen finishes that include gleaming honey-colored floors, shiny stainless steel appliances or dark ebony counter tops.
